What do I get when I buy a Synagy web package?
When you buy a Synagy web package you get a copy of the Syntax content management system and a copy of your chosen design. These two parts of the package come together and work as one.
Do I need to set up the system?
No, if we are provided with FTP (File Transfer Protocol) information, we will set up the system for you at no extra cost.
I have a company logo, will Synagy add it in to the design for me?
Yes, we will add your logo in to your chosen design at no extra cost. We can only add in logos that are supplied to us in the correct format. We can not accept printed versions, only digital ones in a suitable Windows format with a transparent background.
Will synagy design a logo for me if I don't have one?
No, regretably this is not a service that we currently offer. We would be happy to recommend one of our associate companies to design a logo for you, however.
What type of hosting do I need?
You will need hosting that supports ASP and an Access database. Check with your hosting company to see if you have these technologies in place.
What folder / directory permissions need to be set up?
Syntax requires permissions on a number of folders to be set up to allow it to amend the database and to upload images and files. Although we will ask your hosting company to set these up correctly for you, we can not be held responsible if they will not co-operate.
Does Synagy have a recommended hosting company?
The choice of hosting company is entirely up to the customer. We can not direcly recommend any particular host. We have however used Streamline for a number of years and they have proved reliable and cost effective. They also support all the requiremnts of the Syntax CMS and the designs.
Does Synagy offer any support?
Yes, the Syntax content management system has a large support section that will assist you in creating your website. The Synagy website also has a large support page and helpful code snippets that you can copy and paste in to your pages. You can also email Synagy with any concerns that you have although we can not guarantee a response to individual enquires. We regret that we are unable to offer telephone support at this time.
I only want a copy of the Syntax content management system, can I have one?
Yes, the Syntax content management system is available as a single unit at a cost of £199.
I only want a copy of one of the designs, can I have one?
Yes, standard HTML versions of the designs are available at a cost of £99 per design.
I wish to upgrade my design to a new one, can I do that?
Yes, design upgades for existing customers are available at a cost of £49 per upgrade. If you have recently bought a Synagy web package and wish to upgrade the design you can do so once for free within 2 weeks of your purchase.
I have recently bought a Synagy web package and have now changed my mind, can I have a refund?
Yes, we offer a full money back guarantee for all of our products for the first three months after you have made your purchase.
Why isn't my new website appearing in the search engine rankings?
Typically new websites can take up to three months to be listed on the search engine results. There is nothing we can do about this unfortunately. Remember to submit your site to Google everytime you make an alteration to it. This will help the search engines to keep up to date with your site. We can not offer any guarantees as to your websites performance in the search engine rankings.
What can I do to improve my sites rankings now it is being listed?
Search engines, Google in particular, look at three main criteria when ranking a website -
1. Incoming links from quality websites.
2. Traffic coming through your site.
3. The content of your website.
Syntax provides you with all of the necessary tools to successfully optimise your website content. Look at the SEO tips below to see how to optimise your content. Other than that start setting up reciprical links with other websites relevant to your site. There is no way to cheat unfortunately, achieving a high / acceptable position in the search engine rankings takes a fair amount of time and can not be guaranteed.

Search engine optimisation tips
SEO tip 1. Webpage Title tags
A pages title is by far the most important piece of information on it. The search engines look for a page title before anything else. We recommend using descriptive, well considered titles that have less than 120 charcters in them. This is of particular importance on the home page of your website. Remember to include phrases or search terms relevant to your website that you think users will be searching for.
SEO tip 2. Website meta description tags
Although they are not as important is they once were, it is still worthwhile adding in a good, short meta description for each page. This information is hidden from users browsing your website but is viewable to the search engines. We recommend using around 50 words per page, briefly describing what the page is about. Remember to include phrases or search terms relevant to your website that you think users will be searching for.
SEO tip 3. Website meta keywords
Largely depreciated now because they were used widely for spamming, meta keywords are not as important as they once were. That said, it is still worth having a few on each page. We recommend using around 20 keywords a phrases, seperated by commas, describing the content of the page. Remember to include phrases or search terms relevant to your website that you think users will be searching for.
SEO tip 4. Webpage content
After the title tag, the page content is the most important thing that a search engine looks for. We recommend having at least 200 words on each page with at lease 4 instances of phrases or search terms relevant to your website that you think users will be searching for. This is especially important for the home page.

Pre-constructed tables and other bits of html that you can copy and paste in to your pages in Syntax. Simply select the snippet you would like to use and copy it, then paste it in to the editor in Syntax.
